As Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) for the CEMEA region, Tarek is responsible for driving Visa’s marketing strategy and leading its teams across this multifaceted region. His role is to help expand and grow Visa’s brand, driving demand for its products, services and solutions, amplifying its purpose and delivering value through its global marketing properties and sponsorships.
A recognized figure in the tech industry, Tarek’s experience outside Visa includes roles as Regional General Manager of TikTok for the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia, a decade at Google, where he held the position of Regional Director of Marketing for EMEA Emerging Markets. Tarek served on the board of Emaar Misr and played a pivotal role in establishing the Middle East chapter of the Marketing Society. Additionally, he contributes as an Advisory Board Member of the CMO Council EMEA.
His academic background includes an MBA from Sheffield Business School, a Post Graduate Diploma from the International Advertising Association, and a Bachelor's Degree with Honors from the American University in Cairo.
With over two decades of experience in consumer marketing, technology, and strategy consulting across North America, the Middle East, and emerging markets, Tarek's global outlook is enriched by having lived in nine countries across five continents. Fluent in Arabic and English, and conversational in Italian, he brings a diverse cultural perspective to his work.
