Nuno Lopes Alves is the Regional President of Visa Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), a position he assumed in October 2025. Based in Miami, he leads Visa’s business across the 44 markets and territories in the region, overseeing client relationships with financial institutions, fintechs, merchants, and government partners. Mr. Lopes Alves brings more than 25 years of experience in banking, payments, and consulting. He joined Visa in 2017 and has since held multiple leadership roles, most recently he was the Country Manager for Brazil and prior to that Group Country Manager for the Andean Region, overseeing operations in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. Before joining Visa, he held leadership positions at Accenture and Barclays and founded his own technology startup. As Country Manager for Brazil, he led the transformation of Visa’s business in one of the world’s most dynamic payments markets, fostering innovation, digitalization, and collaboration across the ecosystem. He holds an MBA from IESE Business School and a bachelor’s degree in Business from the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo. Born in Brazil and raised in Portugal, Mr. Lopes Alves has lived in Spain, the United Kingdom, and Colombia.
