Tarek is Senior Vice President and CMO of Visa CEMEA, responsible for driving Visa’s consumer and business marketing strategy and leading its Marketing Services advisory business across 90 countries. His role is to help expand and grow Visa’s presence, driving demand for its products, services and solutions, amplifying its purpose through campaigns and activations and delivering value through its global sponsorships. Prior to joining Visa, Tarek was Regional General Manager of TikTok Middle East, Africa, and South Asia responsible for leading its operations and partnering with local teams to deliver the most relevant and entertaining experience for its community. Before joining TikTok, Tarek spent a decade at Google, most recently as the Regional Director of Marketing at Google for Emerging Markets in Europe, Middle East & Africa, responsible for leading marketing teams across the region, building usage, commercialization and love for Google and YouTube products and services. He led the creation and delivery of consumer, business, brand and reputation strategy and plans including the launch of YouTube, Google Street View, Google Maps, Google Arts & Culture and Google Partners, working with content creators, publishers, governments and large and small businesses across industries in the Arab world. He also led the design and launch of Maharat min Google (مهارات من جوجل) a program endorsed by Google’s CEO, which has empowered over 1M Arab women and youth with digital skills needed succeed to in the workforce. He is a recognized figure in the Middle Eastern technology industry, a frequent spokesperson, and a published technology inventor. He holds an MBA from Sheffield Business School, a Post Graduate Diploma from the International Advertising Association and a bachelor’s degree with Honors from the American University in Cairo. He has lived in 9 countries across 5 continents, speaks fluent Arabic and English and is conversational in Italian. With over 20 years of experience in consumer marketing, technology and strategy consulting in North America, the Middle East and emerging markets, he has also held numerous leadership positions at Mars Incorporated based in the Middle East and the United States.
