James Mirfin is Senior Vice President and Global Head of Risk and Security Intelligence Solutions (RaS) in Visa’s Value-Added Services (VAS) organisation. In this role, he and his team are responsible for engaging with financial institutions, merchants and partners around the world to help make payments simpler and more secure. At Visa, enabling payment success, securely, is priority one and his team’s customer-centric solutions help to do that. Visa’s Risk and Security Intelligence Solutions are delivered through a portfolio of real-time fraud prevention and authentication services, underpinned by data engineers and scientists, predictive modelling and analytics, advanced AI and machine learning. James recently led the acquisition of Featurespace for Visa, which now sits within the RaS business at Visa. Prior to assuming this position in April 2023, James served as Head of Strategy and Operations where he helped redefine the strategic priorities and operating model for Risk and Security Intelligence Solutions, as one of Visa’s fastest growing businesses. He previously led the digital identity, fraud and risk intelligence businesses at LSEG (Refinitiv) and held leadership positions with American Express and PayPal. His career has spanned multiple geographies, having been based in London, Hong Kong, Thailand, India, Singapore, New York and Dallas. James earned a Master of Business Administration degree from University of Warwick (Warwick Business School). He currently resides in Texas and is an experienced mentor, board advisor and investor.
